Dams and dikes are a critical part of the world’s infrastructure. They are used to create reservoirs of drinking water, provide flood control, generate electricity, impound waste materials and for recreation. However, when dams and dikes fail, the results are often catastrophic.
DGSI provides materials testing equipment used to test the soil, concrete, and steel during the construction of the dams and dikes. We also provide instrumentation used to monitor the construction of the dam and the condition of the critical design elements.

Bieudron Power House, Switzerland -DGSI provides equipment used to test the soil, concrete and steel used during dam construction.

The Ennepetal Dam was built on the Ennepe river in 1904 to secure a water supply for the Gevelsberg area.

DGSI provides equipment that is used to test the soil, concrete and steel used during the construction of the dams.

Instrumentation at the dam included twenty-two VW piezometers, sixteen VW strain gauges, a hanging pendulum, 137 thermocouples, 23 RTDs, a water level recorder, a seepage weir float well, seven multi-channel data loggers, and a modem.

As part of the project to build a new navigation lock at Point Marion, Pennsylvania, the US Army Corps of Engineers constructed a cofferdam that incorporated the land wall of the existing lock.

Porce III is a hydro dam power project on the Porce River, includes a 155 m high CFRD dam with a crest length of 426 m

The San Roque Dam Project involves the construction of a very large embankment dam, a 345 megawatt hydropower plant, two diversion tunnels, and more.
