Stirring Apparatus
The soil samples are first mixed with the dispersing agent to retard flocculation. Mixing of the soil and dispersant is done with the aparatus and a Special Mixing Paddle made to ASTM specifications. At the maximum of three speeds, the apparatus rotates at about 10,000 rpm under no load.
The apparatus includes a standard stirring paddle and a dispersion cup with stationary soil baffles.
