Position Summary

The primary role of the CNC Operator is to set up and run CNC machines to perform different jobs including drilling, grinding, and milling material to within print tolerances within the specified time. On any given day, the CNC Operator may unload raw materials, prepare a test run to ensure the machine is working properly and inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements.  The main focus will be on CNC machines, however conventional machines may be used from time to time. This position will perform first part run tolerance checking, as well as CNC lathe / mill machine prep and setup.  The position will be based in Company’s facility in Tucker, GA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce quality machined parts specific to engineering drawings and print specifications
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to plan and organize workflow
  • Check machinery daily to guarantee functionality
  • Translate engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production
  • Prepare and load raw materials onto the machines, prep machine, and prepare test run to check if the machine produces outputs according to specifications
  • Utilize jigs and fixtures to aid efficiency
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
  • Record all machine actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain conformance with Company’s regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping and exercise safe work practices
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Experience and Skills                                                                     

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualifications required
  • Minimum 2 years in a general machine shop environment with CNC experience
  • Trade or vocational school classes in machine technology a plus
  • Ability to translate mechanical documents and engineering drawings a plus
  • Good computer and mathematical skills
  • Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate hand tools, inspection equipment, and power tools such as saws, grinders, drill press, engine and turret lathes, knee and horizontal mills, CNC mills and lathes
